Aspects of Ireland's Secondary School Transition Year (An Irish Education Book 3) (English Edition) de M.C. O'Callaghan

Descripción - This book is about Transition Year, or “TY”, in Irish secondary schools. As a parent who didn’t do Transition Year myself in school, I found TY a bit confusing for a while. What did it involve? What kind of work placements did young people do? What was a social placement? What kind of talks would young people be given? How did the academic side of things work? What subjects could students do? What did Gaisce mean? Why did students go on particular trips? When I went looking for information, it was very wide and varied. Also, different schools took different approaches. As a result, I found it hard to really grasp everything. During my teenager’s recent TY year, however, I slowly but surely learnt about the various aspects. Now I want to share this knowledge. I have written this book as a basic, straightforward guide, mainly aimed at parents and TY students. Teachers may also find it of interest. Transition Year is, to my mind, potentially a very interesting and exciting year, albeit a challenging one, in Irish schools. I wish I could have done it myself. The closest I can get to doing Transition Year is to write about it!
